The Club That George Built Wins Bronze at Sports Journalism Awards
We’re delighted to share that The Club That George Built was awarded bronze in the Best Television Documentary category at the SJA Sports Journalism Awards 2025.

The awards recognise the creme de la creme of sports journalism – whether it be writing, photography or broadcast.
Delivered in collaboration with Warner Bros. Discovery, the 70-minute film centers around the 23/24 season of Worthing FC and the owner George Dowell. It was first shown on TNT Sports in October 2024, and can still be viewed on their streaming platform Discovery+ here: https://www.discoveryplus.com/gb/show/the-club-that-george-built
Billed as “the Oscars of the industry” the awards were held at London’s Park Plaza Westminster Bridge hotel on Monday 24th March. The ceremony was hosted by the TalkSport presenters Jim White and Reshmin Chowdhury.
There to receive the award were Executive Producer, Howard Cohen; Director, Theo Lee Ray and George Dowell MBE, the subject of the documentary.
